The Adventures Of Mark Twain (1985)

Based on Mark Twain's short writings, this feature-length Claymation fantasy follows Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher, and Huck Finn as they stowaway on Mark Twain's interplanetary balloon. Twain, dissatisfied with humanity, is hell-bent on locating and colliding with Halley's Comet, thereby fulfilling his "destiny." Tom, Becky, and Huck must persuade him that his judgment is incorrect and that he still has plenty to contribute to mankind that may make a difference. Their actions are not just philanthropic; if they fail, they will suffer the same fate as Mark Twain. Along the journey, they use a magical time portal to get a comprehensive understanding of Twain's worldview by watching the "historical" events that inspired his writings.
